[PET] Multiple PhD openings

Greetings,

 

Security, Privacy, Trust and Ethics in Computing (SPriTE) Lab
(http://sprite.cs.wichita.edu/) at Wichita State University (WSU) has
multiple openings for PhD student researchers in the area of wearable and
mobile device security and privacy. The positions will begin in Fall 2016
(or as soon as possible) and will provide three academic (Spring and Fall
semesters) years of research funding. Funding includes a competitive
academic year stipend and full tuition waiver. Funding for additional
academic semesters and summer semesters may also be available, contingent on
performance and availability of research funds. The student researcher will
pursue a PhD degree in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
(EECS) department (http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/home/?u=eecs) at WSU under
the supervision of Dr. Murtuza Jadliwala. PhD student researchers are
expected to work on an NSF-funded research project which focuses on
identifying/analyzing novel security and privacy vulnerabi!

lities due to upcoming wearable and mobile devices and proposing efficient,
effective and usable protection mechanisms for the same. Potential
applicants should satisfy the following criteria:

 

1.      Possess a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
or related areas.

2.      Strong background in security, privacy, machine learning (esp.,
classification and prediction techniques) and algorithm design & analysis.

3.      Excellent analytical and programming skills. Programming background
in mobile programming platforms, such as, Android, is a huge plus.

4.      Excellent communication (reading, writing and oratory) skills.
Proficiency in English language is required.

 

If accepted, the student researchers should apply and be accepted into the
PhD program in the EECS department at WSU. Current WSU Masters students
intending to transition to a PhD program are highly encouraged to apply.

.         An unofficial Bachelors and Masters transcript in English.

.         A research/personal statement.

.         Recent GRE and TOEFL scores and test dates.

.         A list of at least three references (containing email addresses
and contact information).

.         Optional: A copy of past research papers, thesis or any other
relevant document supporting the above criteria.
