Privacy&Us  H2020 MSCA ITN -  Ph.D. Position at Tel Aviv University on
Usable Privacy

 

Tel Aviv University is immediately looking for a candidate for a Ph.D.
position in the field of usable privacy as part of the Privacy & Usability
(Privacy & Us) EU H2020 MSCA Innovative Training Network. For general

The project consists of a group of European top universities, private
companies and government agencies, and it is intended to train outstanding
young researchers in the field of privacy in information technology. 

 

The specific Ph.D. research will develop models of user responses to
privacy-related information and validate these models with empirical
research to generate effective privacy notifications. 

 

The Ph.D. student will study in the Department of Industrial Engineering, at
the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University (TAU). Prof. Joachim Meyer
will supervise the project. 

 

The student will receive a monthly salary according to the EC ITN
specification, research funding and travel expenses for up to 33 months
(ideally beginning March 1, 2017). During this time, the student will
conduct research at Tel Aviv University and will participate in several
training and development activities, such as summer schools and secondments
with different partners. 

 

Applicant's profile:

 

*M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science,
Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer
Science, or related fields. The student must have completed a research
thesis as part of the M.Sc. studies.

* Applicants should ideally have a background in behavioral research methods
and statistics and should have some experience in software development.

* Excellent knowledge of English (preferably documented through a high TOEFL
score or another standardized English language proficiency test). 

*Applicants must not have lived in Israel for more than 12 months over the
past 3 years before beginning the program

Evaluation of applications will begin January 1 and will continue until a
suitable candidate is recruited.

*A Curriculum Vitae (including the contact address, previous studies, work
experience and a list of publications)

*A cover letter explaining motivation and career plans

* Transcripts of all courses and grades for the Bachelor and Master programs

* A copy of the Master's thesis

* Names of at least four possible references (one of them should be the
M.Sc. advisor).
