Meet the ABC4Trust project!

ABC4Trust is proud to present its results of four years of research on trustworthy yet privacy-preserving Attribute-based Credentials (Privacy-ABCs) at its summit event.

Date: 20/01/2015 - Starting at 9:30
Venue: Representation of the State of Hessen at the European Union, European Quarter in Brussels, Rue Montoyer 21

You are cordially invited to attend the event and to join the reception afterwards. Have a drink and a talk with all of us.

What will happen?

We would like to introduce you to the idea behind Privacy-ABC-based identity management and explain its advantages and potentials in detail. Using the examples of the project's pilot trials, several application scenarios for Privacy-ABCs will be shown. Furthermore, you have the chance to get an outlook to future developments in identity management. For example, the implementation of Privacy-ABCs on mobile devices, which will give a better protection of users' privacy than existing solutions do.
We are happy to say that the project attracted the attention of several institutions during its runtime. So we can announce that not only our experts who were working on ABC4Trust, but also external speakers from politics and industry, such as
Jan Albrecht (Member of the European Parliament; Greens/EFA, EP Rapporteur General Data Protection Regulation),
Michael Garcia (Deputy Director National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, National Institute of Standards and Technology, U.S. Department of Commerce - NIST),
Achim Klabunde (Representative of the European Data Protection Supervisor),
A representative of the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society

What can Privacy-ABCs do?

The principle is simple. The user receives Attribute-based Credentials from an entity which can vouch for some attributes of the user. When authenticating to an online service, the user can choose which attributes are disclosed. This means, unnecessary personal information can be cut off. Privacy-ABCs can prevent usage patterns between different accesses of an individual user to the same or different services.
The result is that the user can access online services anonymously and safely.

What did ABC4Trust do?

ABC4Trust developed a Privacy-ABC based system for electronic identification that protects the user's privacy and at the same time guarantees the security of her business partner. The project tested the system successfully in its two pilot trials, a communication platform and anonymous course evaluation.
