Vacancy: Tenure track Assistant Professorship
   Digital Security - Radboud University Nijmegen - The Netherlands

The Digital Security group at the Radboud University Nijmegen has a
vacancy for a full-time assistant professorship (Universitair Docent
UD in Dutch).

General information

The Digital Security group in Nijmegen is a leading research group
into computer security in the Netherlands. The research group, and
indeed the Institute for Computing and Information Sciences (ICIS) as
a whole, have received an excellent rating in the latest national
research evalution exercise for computer science (2010).

Research in the group covers a range of topics including correctess
and security of software, smartcards and RFID, design and analysis of
security protocols, applied crypto, privacy and anonimity, quantum
logic and computing. Members of the group are also active in the
broader societal issues surrounding security & privacy, and regulary
carry out commercial contract research to apply and inspire high
quality academic research.

The group runs a joint Master programme in Computer Security in
collaboration with the universities of Twente and Eindhoven, named the
Kerckhoffs Institute (www.kerckhoffs-institute.org). In Nijmegen the
Institute for Computing and Information Sciences runs Bachelor and
Master courses in Computer Science (Informatica) and Information
Science (Informatiekunde).

For this position we are looking for the best candidate in the broader
field of security, who can be a good addition to the group and has
good synergy with ongoing research in the group, who is a team player,
and who can teach computer security to a broad range of students.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

- a PhD degree in Computer Science or Mathematics;

- research experience in computer security, with ample opportunities
  for synergy with ongoing research in the group;

- teaching experience and good teaching skills, and the ability to
  teach security courses to computing science and information science
  students;

- demonstrated experience in attracting and managing external
  projects;

- good English speaking and writing skills, and a willingness to learn
  Dutch. (All Master's and some Bachelor courses are given in
  English.)

- Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO): if the candidate in question is
  not in possession of a BKO certificate, he or she is required to
  meet this requirement within a maximum period of three years.

About the Radboud University

Radboud University Nijmegen is one of the leading academic communities
in the Netherlands. Renowned for its green leafy campus, modern
buildings, and state-of-the-art equipment, it has nine faculties and
enrols over 17,500 students in approximately 90 study programmes. The
university is situated in the oldest city in the Netherlands, close to
the German border, on the banks of the river Waal. The city has a rich

Conditions of employment

The position involves a tenure track of 2 periods of 3 years, each
followed by an evaluation based on clear criteria; upon positive
outcomes, this will result in a permanent position as Assistant
Professor scale 1 (UD 1).

For candidates who already have a permanent position elsewhere a more
direct route to a permanent position is possible.

Salary per month, based on full-time employment: 3195-4970 euro/month,
depending on experience.

Candidates moving to the Netherlands from abroad may qualify for
a tax incentive scheme, where 30% of your income is tax free.
