Mailman does not actually need a password for subscription, it will
happily generate a random one if none is supplied.
So in my mailing lists I simply changed the subscription HTML template
to remove the input fields for real name and password.
If the user ever needs access to the web interface, they can request
mailman to send the password via mail.
