Vacancy: Assistant Professor - Digital Security - Radboud University 
Nijmegen

The Digital Security (DS) group at the Radboud University Nijmegen has
a 0.8 fte vacancy (ie. 4 days/week) for an assistant professor.

General information

The Digital Security group in Nijmegen is the leading research group
into computer security in the Netherlands. The research group, and
indeed the Institute for Computing and Information Sciences (ICIS) as
a whole, are set to receive an excellent rating in the forthcoming
report on the recent national research evalution exercise for computer
science.

Research in the group covers a range of topics including correctess
and security of software, smartcards and RFID, design and analysis of
security protocols, applied crypto, privacy and anonimity, and data
mining. Members of the group are also active in the broader societal
issues surrounding security & privacy, and regulary carry out
commercial contract research to apply and inspire high quality
academic research.

The group runs a joint Master in Computer Security programme in
collaboration with the universities of Twente and Eindhoven, named the
Kerckhoffs Institute (www.kerckhoffs-institute.org). In Nijmegen the
Institute for Computing and Information Sciences runs Bachelor and
Master courses in Computer Science (Informatica) and Information
Science (Informatiekunde).

For this position we are looking for the best candidate in the broader
field of security, who can be a good addition to the group, have good
synergy with ongoing research in the group, and who can teach computer
security to a broad range of students.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

- a PhD degree in Computing Science or Mathematics;

- research experience in computer security, with opportunities
   for synergy with ongoing research in the group;

- teaching experience and good teaching skills, and the ability to
   teach security courses to computing science and information science
   students;

- demonstrated experience in attracting and managing external
   projects;

- good English speaking and writing skills, and a willingness to learn
   Dutch. (All Master's and some Bachelor courses are given in English,
   so knowledge of Dutch is not a prerequisite.)

About the Radboud University

Radboud University Nijmegen is one of the leading academic communities
in the Netherlands. Renowned for its green leafy campus, modern
buildings, and state-of-the-art equipment, it has nine faculties and
enrols over 17,500 students in approximately 90 study programmes. The
university is situated in the oldest city in the Netherlands, close to
the German border, on the banks of the river Waal. The city has a rich
history and a lively city centre.

Conditions of employment

The position is temporary for the period of one year and then, after
positive evaluation, permanent, for 0.8 fte (4 days/week).  There are
frequent funding opportunities to finance the remaining 0.2 fte, but
currently not on a permanent contract.

Salary per month, based on full-time employment: 3195-4970 euro/month,
depending on experience.

Candidates moving to the Netherlands from abroad may qualify for
a tax incentive scheme, where 30% of your income is tax free.
